1010MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF KENYA: REALITIES OF HISTORY
One of the realities of Europeans is keeping historical records that have shaped the current European civilization .The worst mistake of Africa and Africans is that we don’t read and we don’t want to want to listen to history.
FEW PEOPLE READ ARTICLES
There are few people who read in-depth and internalize what I write on this blog on a daily basis. Most of the people dismiss ones work because of the name or the country of origin and the affiliation. They just insult but in the real sense some of the thingsI have written have come to pass.
MY REASONING AND FACTS
Regarding Moi day, First I want to greet those who were at school and at least drunk president Moi’s milk .Aware that the thinking which informed the drafters of the 2010 constitution in not expressly recognizing Moi day as public holiday was the desire to reduce the number of public holidays and, more importantly, to depersonalise public holidays.
However, in a judgment delivered by justice George Odunga last year, the learned judge reinstated Moi day as public holiday by reason that the same is still in the Act of parliament as a public holiday.
Therefore, according to that decision, the day will remain as public holiday unless parliament amends the Public Holiday Act by expunging Moi day from list of public holidays.
The merits of whether or not statutory provisions can override the spirit of the constitution is a question of conjecture. I leave it to lawyers.
KENYA TIPPING TOWARDS CROSS ROADS?
Now....this day has come at a time when Kenya stand at crossroads of high voltage politics. There's so much political bickering on referendum, 2022 pre-campaigns, complaints regarding taxation, and uproar over high profile murders. The country is in some kind of mid life crises.
KENYA IS OWSOME COUNTRY
But I wish to deliver a message of hope to the citizens of this great country. I have travelled and lived in many countries in the world. I can confidently tell you that there's no country as awesome as Kenya.
God has endowed with one of the beautiful countries on earth. The coastal beaches of white sands, the captivating Savannahs across the landscape, the snowcap mountains escapements, the lowlands and the grasslands of northern part of the country.
The diversity of landscape is captivating from Is shanks to Busia, from the shores of lake Victoria to the mountains of central Kenya. From Lake Turkana to the Indian Ocean.
The great rift valley stretching all the way to the beautiful highlands of Kericho, and Nandi hills.
The national parks that dot the country and diversity of landscape. What a natural marvel!
BRILLIANCE AND DIVERSITY
Yet, one of the greatest gifts of heavens is the beauty, brilliance and diversity of the Kenyan people. Kenyans are probably the most resilient and hardworking people you mighy find. A mosaic of diverse ethnic groups and races. A rainbow of difference shades of opinion. Kenya is the is a bastion of interreligious harmony and coexistence.
NAIROBI AFRICA CAPITAL
Nairobi is the African capital of intellectual prowess, technological advancement and business ingenuity.Under president Uhuru Kenyatta Kenya is now the nerve centre of diplomatic interest.
FEW THINGS NEED TO BE SORTED
There are only few things which need to be sorted to help the President and his Government to put Kenyan dream in the hands of God .
1. Accord the President unequivocal support in the battle against corruption.
2. Reduce political noise & Avoid Machiavellian
3.Don't allow politicians to divide you on tribal lines for their own selfish agendas.
4. Guard you constitutional democracy through peaceful vigilance.
5. Listen to the dreams of the heroic founders of this great nation.
6. Unite in a communion of immortal fraternity and patriotism.
Then this land of Kenya will flow with honey and milk.
FINALLY A NATION OF BRAVE PEOPLE
As a nation of brave people you have overcame many challenges, spanning from the liberation fight against colonialism, the second liberation to the eventual attainment of new constitution in 2010 which created the second republic.
In between there has been numerous challenges but through sheer resilience you have always emerged triumphantly. Kenya is beacon of hope for Africa and it must all times be supported by the powers be .
Let Kenyans set their sights on the big picture and support the government of President Uhuru Kenyatta in its development agenda and the rest will be well. Where criticism is necessary, let it be constructive criticism. That's the essence of democracy is pitting ambition against ambition without violence .
On this day may you be blessed, may you also bless somebody else. Perform an act of charity, offer a helping hand, hive a piece of advice, visit the sick, the vulnerable and the needy. Speak blessings. Pray for the country.
God bless Kenya
